Make a Difference - Volunteer!

You can make a difference in the life of others by volunteering.  You can also serve the Lord with your time and talents.   The list below is just some of the ways you can volunteer.   If there is something you'd like to offer that is not listed here, just call the church office!

Little or no training is needed for any of these volunteering opportunities.  No experience is needed for any!

A.M.E.N. - The Lord commanded us to feed the hungry.  Mt. Calvary lives this commission by volunteering at A.M.E.N. )Area Ministries for Emergency Needs), the local food pantry, on a regular basis.  The food pantry provides a vital human service in Fayette County, and volunteers like ours keep it running.

SECOND CHANCE - is a resale store here in La Grange that serves all of Fayette County. The shop accepts donations from the public and resells items such as clothing, household goods, small appliances, and furniture that are in good, working, usable condition. These items are sold at very low prices in order to benefit the underprivileged members of our community. It is run by a coalition of seven local churches, including Mt. Calvary.  Mt. Calvary’s turn to operate the store comes about every seven weeks.   All profits from the sale of these items are then given to local charities.  The churches receive no money from Second Chance.

>>> As you may know, Second Chance Emporium was severely flooded during Hurricane Harvey.  Our buildings were a total loss, rendering us unable to operate as a resale store for the time being.  We are currently running the Disaster Recovery Distribution and Donations Centers for the City of La Grange at a temporary location on South Reynolds Street for the month of September.Beginning in October, we hope to focus our efforts on finding a location to re-establish ourselves as a resale store serving Fayette County and the surrounding counties.   We plan to open again temporarily in the South Reynolds Street location as a resale store. Watch for announcements soon about our re-opening!

Fayette County Habitat for Humanity - is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian ministry founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a decent, safe and affordable place to live. We build with people in need regardless of race or religion. We welcome volunteers and supporters from all backgrounds. Visit
